Elddis Transport raises money for Willow Burn Hospice
Here at Elddis Transport we take our corporate social responsibilities very seriously and we believe all companies should contribute to the community that supports them.
We have supported our local hospice, Willow Burn, for many years but we decided in 2007 to take our support one step further in order to boost its profile. We allocated our 250th Mercedes-Benz Actros to Willow Burn, and had the vehicle sprayed with its own unique livery and accompanied with its own private number plate.
Not only does the striking design capture the public’s attention and provides an excellent form of advertising for the hospice’s vital work, we have also pledged to donate £0.15p for every mile the vehicle travels. Our aim was to raise £50,000 over the next three years. As of June 2010 the money raised was £57,500.
Our staff are also very keen to get involved in raising money and 15 recently took part in the Great Northern Run on behalf of Willow Burn.
About Willow Burn
Adding life to days when days cannot be added to life’
Willow Burn Hospice was opened in 1989 and offers a range of generalist palliative care services for patients with life limiting illness provided by dedicated staff and tireless volunteers. The hospice offers 4 in-patient beds, day services, Hospice at Home and Out Patient Clinics.
Willow Burn provides nursing 24 hours a day and we are always only a phone call away. The Hospice depends on the generosity and warmth of the people of Derwentside and surrounding areas for support.
The money Elddis help us to raise through Trucking4WillowBurn will allow us to plan for the next three years, funding existing services while laying the foundations for the future. We nestle in the grounds of Maiden Law Hospital and as such, sit on land owned by English Partnerships and it is earmarked for future development. We have a relatively short lease and the clock is ticking!
We want to grow and fulfil our potential to care for the people of Derwentside, most of who not only live but work in the area. We are thrilled to have Elddis’ help and support. Please join with trucking4willowburn and help too.
